Emery Kleven is the Farm Director for the Price Discovery Report. The veteran farm broadcaster grew up on a southeast Minnesota farm with a grain and cow/calf operation. After working in radio for a short time after college at Mankato State University, he went back to run the family farm.
A farm broadcaster since 1987, Emery was President of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) in 2005. Emery has worked at stations in Faribault, Minnesota, Sioux City, Iowa, West Point and Omaha, Nebraska.
He was selected the 2000 Media Person of the Year by the Nebraska Agri-Business Association. He was also named winner of the Monsanto Premier Harvest Broadcaster award in 2003.
The old adage that you can take the boy off the farm but you can't take the farm out of the boy holds true for Emery, and he keeps that in mind everyday during broadcasts.
"What would I like to hear if I was listening in the combine, tractor, pickup
or kitchen or shop? I sort through all the information of the day to try to find
what is valuable, interesting and informative and then convey that in a clear
and concise manner." -- Emery Kleven
Emery has covered numerous agricultural events on the local, state, national and international levels.
