Four percent of the corn around the country is now planted compared to the five year average of 17 percent. Illinois has 1 percent in against the 29 percent average. As you look at the chart you'll see Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee running far behind the 5 year average. And there are no signs of a dry spell coming for them or the western corn belt.
Winter wheat is heading out behind normal - 7% versus a 14% average. The condition is rated 45% good to excellent, a drop of 2% from last week and 9% below a year ago.
Oats seeding in the 6 major oats states is 42% seeded against a 55% average. Minnesota has 2% in vs a 27% average. So most everything is behind the 5 year average. The only thing ahead of the average is spring wheat planting in Montana...28% vs 19% average. Cotton planting in the U.S. is at average 14%.
