June 30th Crop Condition Report

We've come to the point in the year we look at the corn in the silking stage or pollination stage. Across the country, 3 percent is now silking against the 5-year average of 9 percent. Texas at 59 and North Carolina at 56 lead the way. We also look at soybeans blooming. In the U.S., 4 percent is blooming versus an 11 percent average.

Corn condtion is rated 61 percent good to excellent, up 2 percent from last week. A year ago we were at 73 percent.
Soybean condition is rated 58 percent good to excellent, up 1 percent from last week but 10 percent below a year ago.

Spring wheat headed in the 6 major spring wheat states is far behind the average. Only 28 percent headed against the 5-year average of 47 percent.

The winter wheat harvest is 36 percent complete in the nation. The average is 48 percent by the end of June.
Kansas is 36 percent done, average is 69 percent
Oklahoma is 93 percent done, average is 88 percent.
Texas is 81 percent done, average is 81 percent.
